Best Ad Networks for Software, SaaS and Browser Extensions in 2026
Most “best ad networks” lists are written for e-commerce or content sites. If you sell software — a SaaS product, an AI tool, an app, or a browser extension — the right channels look different. Here are the ad networks worth testing, split into two groups: where to buy traffic as an advertiser and how to monetize your own product as a publisher.
Ad networks for advertisers
Google Ads
Search ads capture people who already look for a solution, and the Display Network and YouTube add reach. It is the default first channel for software with clear search demand. The trade-off: popular software keywords are expensive because you compete in the same auction as every other advertiser.
Microsoft Advertising
Search ads on Bing and partner sites. Smaller volume than Google, but often lower competition — and a desktop-heavy, work-oriented audience that fits B2B software.
Meta Ads
Facebook and Instagram ads with detailed interest and lookalike targeting. Strong for consumer apps and products you need to explain visually; weaker for niche B2B tools.
LinkedIn Ads
Targeting by job title, company size, and industry makes it the most precise channel for B2B SaaS. Clicks are among the most expensive, so it works best for high-value deals.
Reddit Ads
Ads in topic communities where people discuss tools and problems. Useful for developer tools, productivity apps, and niche software, as long as your creative respects the community’s tone.
Carbon Ads
A network run by BuySellAds that focuses on designers, developers, and a tech-savvy audience, with native units placed in uncluttered environments (Carbon Ads). A good fit for developer tools and design software.
EthicalAds
A developer-focused network from Read the Docs, built without tracking users (EthicalAds). Ads appear on developer documentation and open-source sites — a fit for dev tools that want a privacy-friendly channel.
ExtAds
An ad network built for browser extensions. Your native 640×200 banner appears inside the interfaces of extensions people use for work — converters, translators, tab managers — reaching over 500,000 users a week. A click costs 2–5x less than on other ad networks, and you can target by country and extension category. It suits extensions, SaaS, AI tools, online services, and any white-hat business. See For Advertisers.

Ad networks for publishers
If you build a free product, ads can be your monetization model. The right network depends on what you are monetizing.
- Mobile apps — Google AdMob and mediation platforms such as AppLovin MAX and Unity LevelPlay. See “App Monetization with Ads”.
- Developer websites and documentation — Carbon Ads and EthicalAds, which specialize in developer audiences.
- Browser extensions — ExtAds. Mobile SDKs do not work in extensions, and the Chrome Web Store prohibits serving ads in extensions with AdSense (Program Policies). ExtAds shows a native banner only inside your popup, side panel, or extension page, and you choose the campaigns yourself. See For Publishers.
How to choose an ad network
- Start where demand already exists. If people search for your product category, begin with search ads.
- Match the context. Developer tools perform better on developer sites; desktop software performs better where people work on desktop — including inside browser extensions.
- Test two or three networks at once with a fixed budget and compare them by cost per target action — signups, installs, payments — not by CPM or CPC alone.
- Check the rules. Each network has its own creative and vertical restrictions; extensions also have Chrome Web Store rules on how ads may be shown.
